This idea started in the ’90s during the Bosnia conflict – seems quite appropriate in our time, too.
We Are Bosnia
Words and music by dw, copyright © 2017We are Bosnia,
We are Jerusalem,
We are Ireland,
You and me.
We have hearts that won’t heal,
Arms raised in rage;
We can’t outlive our memories.
We can’t outlive our memories.(Instrumental verse)
Heaven, won’t you grant us your peace?
God, why don’t you take this hate away?
Are we never gonna let our anger cease?
Oh… Oh…
Oh… Oh…We are Bosnia
in our families,
Jerusalem
in our neighborhoods;
We are Ireland
in our schoolyards.
We can’t outlive our memories.Heaven, won’t you grant us your peace?
God, why don’t you take this hate away?
Are we never gonna let our anger cease?
Oh… Oh…
Oh… Oh…We are Bosnia, we are Bosnia, we are Bosnia, we are Bosnia…
